Call now: Tell your senators to reject Trump’s pick for attorney general

Todd Blanche, Donald Trump’s pick for attorney general, is getting a confirmation hearing in the Senate Judiciary Committee on Wednesday, July 15.

Republicans have an extremely narrow majority on the Judiciary Committee. Even one Republican voting against Blanche in committee would sink his nomination.

And if Blanche makes it through the committee, Republicans also don’t have a large majority in the full Senate. If Democrats stand united and even a few Republicans oppose him, we have a chance to stop his confirmation.

Please call your senators right away — no matter who represents you — and urge them to oppose Todd Blanche as attorney general.

Call (202) 224-3121 to reach the Congressional Switchboard and ask to be connected to one of your senators. Then you should call again and ask to speak to the other one.

Once you’re connected, you’ll either be directed to leave a message or be able to talk to a staff member. Here’s what you could say:

“My name is _____ and I live in CITY, STATE. I’m calling because Todd Blanche should not be America’s next attorney general.

The attorney general is supposed to be an independent force for upholding the law, not a personal lawyer for the president. Blanche has demonstrated loyalty to President Trump, including representing him personally in legal cases. And his track record at the Department of Justice, where he still hasn’t fully released the Epstein files, makes me doubt his willingness to put the American people first.

Please oppose his confirmation. Thank you for your time.”
