Tell Gov. DeSantis to veto a bill that would let workers die

Florida governor Ron DeSantis will soon consider HB 433, a cruel bill that would prevent cities and counties from creating heat protections for workers.

HB 433 would take effect on July 1, during what is sure to be one of the hottest summers on record.

Since there is no law in Florida that requires employers to provide water, shade, or rest breaks for workers who face severe heat, banning these local protections will be deadly.

There’s only one chance left to protect workers from this legislation that would block local safeguards for heat-related illness, injury, and death: Email Gov. DeSantis’ office and urge him to veto this bill!

If you or someone you know has suffered due to extreme heat, adding your experience to our sample email will make your message stand out.
