Chevron deference is a legal doctrine that instructs judges to defer to federal agencies when Congress has delegated regulatory authority to the agency. Without it, judges will rule on challenges to regulations based on their own personal policy preferences.
Congress should not wait for the Supreme Court to rule. It should act now to pass legislation to codify Chevron deference.
