Dr. Oz’s Center for Medicare and Medicaid Innovation just announced a plan to require prior authorization for many procedures sought by people on traditional Medicare, including treatments for osteoarthritis, urinary incontinence, and Parkinson’s Disease.
Prior authorization — where patients need to get treatments pre-approved by a private insurance company in order for them to be covered — leads to long wait times and denials of needed care.
This plan would infect traditional Medicare with the same private companies and for-profit motives that weaken regular insurance and Medicare Advantage.
Please urge your representative to sign the letter from Representatives Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez and Lloyd Doggett and demand a halt to Dr. Oz’s plan:
