Tell Gov. Newsom to put California on the path to clean energy, lower costs, and union jobs

After hearing from many concerned Californians, the state legislature passed SB 787 — a bill that would organize and improve clean energy investment and position the state as a leader at a time when we can’t look to the federal government for help.

Now it’s up to Governor Newsom to sign this bill into law and put us on the path to clean energy, lower costs, and more union jobs. And he hasn’t indicated what he’ll do.

I’m reaching out to ask you to sign SB 787, a bill that would boost clean energy investment in California and help create good union jobs at a time when we can’t look to the federal government for help.

California leads the country in innovative policies to decarbonize our energy systems and economy. Battery storage, heat pumps, offshore wind, and other forms of clean energy are the technologies that will decarbonize California while creating good union jobs that can have ripple effects across local economies. They are real solutions to the climate crisis.

However the state lacks a comprehensive, all-of-government approach to building out clean energy supply chains for accelerated deployment of renewable energy, ensuring energy affordability for working class communities, and generating high quality union job growth.

By signing SB 787 and creating a new position to oversee clean energy investment in California, you will position our state as a leader in clean energy and prevent us from being dragged backward by the Trump Administration.

The legislature already did its job, now I’m looking to you to follow suit. Please sign SB 787 into law as soon as possible. Thank you for your time.
