Senate Should Reject Anyone Anything Like Pam Bondi as Next Attorney General

Donald Trump just fired Attorney General Pam Bondi. If Bondi wasn’t irrational, vindictive, and unlawful enough as attorney general, imagine who Trump will try to install as her replacement!

Attorney general is our nation’s top law enforcement position. The person in that role leads a Department of Justice (including the FBI) that is supposed to be an independent force for upholding the rule of law and prosecuting those who commit federal crimes. Donald Trump seems to think the AG, DOJ, and FBI are his personal legal attack dogs. Do not confirm another nominee for attorney general who supports Trump’s election denialism, retaliatory prosecutions, softness on corporate crime, inversion of civil rights enforcement, and suppression of the Epstein files.
