In a case called Louisiana v. Callais, the United States Supreme Court has ruled that states can distort their congressional maps to disenfranchise voters of color as long as they say they’re doing it for “political” purposes.
With its ruling in Louisiana v. Callais and several previous misguided rulings, the Supreme Court has essentially eviscerated the landmark Voting Rights Act of 1965. This ruling is racist, anti-democratic, and wrong.
