To every member of Congress
America is in a prescription drug price crisis, but policymakers can help us save $150 billion annually and sharply reduce out-of-pocket costs for patients.
To address Big Pharma price gouging, you must:
1. Empower Medicare to negotiate prices on all brand name drugs, including newly-launched treatments, just like is done for the Veterans Health Administration
2. Establish in Medicare price negotiations that Big Pharma can’t charge more than the median price for the same drug in other wealthy countries
3. Make Medicare-negotiated prices available to everyone, including people who get their insurance through their employer or the private market
4. Lower Medicare’s $2,000 annual cap on patient out-of-pocket drug costs and extend it to patients with private insurance
