Robert F. Kennedy Jr. — Trump’s Health and Human Services Secretary — is using his office to undermine confidence in vaccines, distort science, and block access to lifesaving medicines. His actions are steering the country toward a preventable public health emergency.

We sent a letter to Donald Trump to urge him to fire RFK Jr. And we need every member of Congress to speak out against RFK Jr. as well.

I’m worried that Robert F. Kennedy Jr. is politicizing our country’s medicine and fearmongering about treatments that have achieved a strong scientific consensus. He’s not the right leader for our Health and Human Services Department, and he should be replaced.

The CDC’s scientific experts have a long track record of evaluating evidence and making strong, safe recommendations. From the early childhood vaccination schedule to the initial rollout of COVID-19 vaccines, we’ve all benefitted from their expertise.

But Robert F. Kennedy Jr. replaced the entire CDC vaccine advisory committee — and his replacements have less experience, fewer qualifications, and a record of promoting pseudoscience.

Meanwhile, his rollout of the newest COVID-19 vaccines has been a disaster. The FDA released confusing, restrictive guidelines about who will be able to access it, and everyone is still trying to figure out if they’re eligible for new doses or not. He even removed the CDC Director, who was confirmed by the Senate recently, because she refused to go along with the new vaccine recommendations.

Here’s the bottom line: I feel like I can’t trust recommendations coming from our public health officials right now. And I know that many scientists in the public health community — including former CDC directors — are just as concerned. Robert F. Kennedy Jr. is the wrong leader for HHS. He should be fired and replaced with a competent, experienced leader who will put our health first.
